Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Success

Ugan is a Biokineticist who helps individuals overcome injuries, restore functionality and achieve a higher level of fitness and performance. He studied sport and recreation at the University of the Western Cape, subsequently completed his Biokinetics at Stellenbosch University.

He is the owner and Biokineticist of Ugan Josias Biokineticist in the northern suburb of Cape Town. A practice that is devoted to empowering individuals through movement and education.

He is skilled at working with those across a wide range of experiences, ages, and abilities. He always provides a custom-tailored program to the needs and goals of the individuals. He has a keen interest in orthopedic management and sports condition, applying the scientific principle to other populations such as the tactical and occupational population.

WHAT IS A BIOKINETICIST?

Biokinetics is a profession concerned with movement and exercise for health promotion, preventative health, improvement of physical function and performance, final-phase rehabilitation, and management of the chronic disease.

Biokineticists use scientifically -based program prescriptions to promote health and quality of life. Functions within the professional alliance to health and medicine, and is recognized by and registered with the health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

Improves a person’s physical well-being and quality of life through individualized scientific assessment and the prescription of exercise in rehabilitative treatment to prevent or intervene with certain ailments and the enhancement of performance (sport, work and life)

WHAT WE DO

ORTHOPEDIC PRE AND POST SURGRY REHABILITATION

We provide final-phase rehabilitation and restore quality of life for:

Pre & post-surgery strengthening & conditioning, Conservative treatment to prevent surgery, Injury rehabilitation (neck, back, shoulders, hips, knees, ankles), Rehabilitation of chronic conditions (lower back pain, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, scoliosis), Correction of postural alignment, joint or muscle discomfort/pain (knee, shoulder, hip, back and ankle) and muscle imbalances.

PREVENTIVE CARE AND DISEASE MANAGEMENT

We work with people with a range of different chronic diseases such as:

Cardiac conditions & Stroke, Parkinson’s disease. High Blood pressure & Metabolic syndrome. High Cholesterol & Diabetes. Stress-related disorders & Arthritis. Osteoporosis as well as Neuromuscular conditions.

STRENGTH, CONDITIONING AND PERFORMANCE

We provide sport-specific exercises to improve athletic performance. This include power, speed, agility, strength, endurance and core stability. We also assist in the prevention or reduction of overused muscles and sport injuries.

WORK INJURY PREVENTION AND CONDITIONING

We provide rehabilitation and performance for workers:

Overuse injuries and rehabilitation, injury on duty rehabilitation, and improve work-related performance. Training include power, speed, agility, strength, endurance and prehabilitation. Specialized online assistant program called Robust Tactical Performance is available.

MEDICAL HEALTH & FITNESS ASSESSMENT

We provide medical health and fitness assessments for:

Vitality fitness assessment, High-performance vitality fitness assessment, Functional fitness assessment, Multiply health and fitness assessment, online multiply fitness assessment, Universal healthcare fitness assessment, Tempo health, and fitness assessment, Fed health, and fitness assessment and Medscheme and Sasol weight management programme.

SPORT SPECIFIC TRAINING & REHABILITATION

Final phase rehabilitation by means of a scientifically-based exercise program prescription for:

Pre- and post-surgery rehabilitation for: Knee, shoulder, back, hip, ankle, etc.), Common overuse injuries (ITB, tennis / golfers elbow, rotator cuff injuries, etc.), Joint or muscle discomfort/pain. (Knee, shoulder, hip, back and ankles.), Muscle weakness and imbalances and sport strength and conditioning.

RATES

We utilize a combination of scientific principles, clinical knowledge, and strength development to provide individuals with a comprehensive approach to rehab and performance development. Whether you are an athlete, weekend warrior, or want to return to functionality. We can assist you.

EVALUATION

All members will go through a evaluation of medical history, questionnaires, clinical and functional testing to determine goals and outcomes for exercise program. Evaluation will vary from member to member depended on information given.

We provide services that is covered by certain medical aids, the amount of reimbursement or rate will depend on your medical aid cover. Most medical aid will cover the cost, please contact your provider for details and benefits. Evaluations and sessions will be covered by medical aid.
